About Me

My photo
I have always been interested in fashion and dressing up for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I always made it a point to “match” everything, and even wore dresses everyday to school for my entire 2nd grade school year. This interest has stuck with me to the present day and has grown into something that I have become very passionate about. I plan to take this passion and turn it into a career. I attend FIDM LA as a Fashion Design major. Coming from a small town and living with a small budget, I have to be creative in achieving the kind of style I like. This blog is a side project that shows that fashion can be affordable by posting my favorite outfits, DIY sewing projects, and documents my journey at FIDM.

Something to BLOG about: August

It is that time to share some of my new favorite fashion bloggers with you! I have discovered these over the past month, and have been reading up on each weekly. I will be adding the links to the left-hand side under "What I'm looking at lately" shortly.

  • First is Keiko Lynn. She's quirky, she's stylish, she's down to earth...and she's gorgeous! Keiko mixes up her weekly blogging with outfit posts, makeup tutorials, and of course, giveaways. There is always something interesting up on her site, so go check her out!
  • For those who enjoy a little alternative style of blogging, Audrey Kitching's blog is right up your alley. This LA resident doesn't just stick to the wilder side of fashion. With posts about makeup, celebrities, music, and her own budding career, there is something for everyone to read.
  • Amanda Del Duca of Capture Fashion is one of the few people on Lookbook to constantly post amazing outfit after amazing outfit. Her personal blog is equally impressive. Her outfit posts are extra-special, and each looks like a professional shoot out of a catalog which I really admire. You can tell Capture Fashion is created with hardwork, dedication, and love. With the hopes of someday working at Vogue, there is certainly no stopping Amanda!
  • You might have seen this next blogger in magazines such as Teen Vogue and Seventeen. LA based Shea Marie of Cheyenne meets Chanel is a strong force in the online blogging world. Coming from a small town and now living in the big city, Shea still remains true to her roots all the while adapting to the fast-paced, designer-wearing life she has now.

Something to BLOG about

As you can see, I only have one previous post up on my blog. I have recently made the switch from Wordpress to Blogspot. So far I am very happy with my decision! If you would like to view any of my previous posts to get a better feel of what this blog is about, you can visit my old site on Wordpress here.

Since we are on the subject of blogs, I would like to dedicate this post to its "art". Once a month, I will compile a short list of my favorite bloggers and blogsites that I have stumbled upon and share them with you. I believe it is important for up-and-coming bloggers like myself to look at more successful pages and take some inspiration and tips from each and turn those ideas into things you can use to better your own. I will also add their links to my "What I'm Looking At" tab on the left.

Bloggers to follow:

  1. A long time favorite of mine, Who What Wear offers great fashion advice and intellect that targets a wide audience. I receive their email's each week, and I am always excited to open them. One thing that I am just discovering is their daily blog. True to its name, the site is updated daily and always has a lot of inspiring and beautiful pictures. What I really love about it is that they post pictures from magazines from around the world, so you get a taste of what's trending in places from Japan to Brazil!
  2. I actually discovered this next young blogger by reading this WWW post. Coming from a small town myself, I feel like I can relate to her when it comes to trying to be creative when buying clothes. She however, does not have a small budget! Doina mixes high and low pieces together and makes it work in an age-appropriate way. View here blog, The Golden Diamonds, here.
  3. This last blogger to follow isn't someone that I would normally suggest after glancing over her page, but reading her posts more in depth and how successful she actually is, Jessica Quirk deserves a spot on this list.  Her looks are more everyday, and she is extremely down-to-earth, all while having an abundance of knowledge of the fashion industry.
What are some of your favorite sites/blogs to find fashion inspiration on?
